A weekend may not be long enough, but it’s a good start!  There’s so much to do and see in Washington, DC.  For example, the Smithsonian Institution is made up of 17 museums and the National Zoo (plus two other museums in New York City).  In Washington, admission to the Smithsonian Institution is free!  With more than 2,840,000 artifacts on display at any one time, it would take you more than five years to see everything if you spent just one minute viewing each artifact without a break!

There’s no better place to learn about American History than the Nation’s Capital.  From the White House to the Capitol, the Lincoln Memorial to the Washington Monument, the Supreme Court to the National Archives, the Library of Congress to the Pentagon, Washington is home to rich sources of fascinating information and exhibits.

Politics and government may make the city run, but entertainment and nightlife are no strangers to the most important city in the world.  Kennedy Center, Ford’s Theatre & Museum and National Theatre in Washington, as well as the new Music Center at Strathmore in North Bethesda, Maryland,  are just a few of the prominent venues for culture and the arts.  Georgetown, the Southwest Waterfront and K Street feature a wide range of casual and formal dining and drinking establishments.

Getting around town is easy and affordable with Washington’s Metro Subway System.  An all-day pass is only $6.50 per person and you can start your journey any time after 9:30am.

Now is a great time to visite DC.
